Lynne’s Testimonials

“I’d had Lynne’s book for a few months waiting for a good time to give it to my grandson. He lives in northern Ohio and has always been enthralled with all of the wild lizards so abundant here.

“For years he has worked hard to devise ways to catch them. When he was 7 he enthusiastically succeeded. He was so excited with the prospect of taking it back home with him. His mother appropriately wasn’t. The perfect time for Lynne’s book.

“I took him aside and read it to him. He listened carefully, thought a minute and then bravely let the lizard go.  He still enjoys chasing them but no longer tries to catch them. I will always be grateful to Lynne’s wise book that helped my grandson reach a challenging decision.

“Thank you Lynne!!!”

“This book is a truly delightful story, beautifully illustrated, and entertaining for all ages. I bought this book for all of my grandkids, and they all love it; even the teeny toddlers. It is always prominently displayed on their bookshelves. The story of a loving bond between a grandparent and grandchild through the love of nature is a very poignant one; which includes a very gentle, happy message about preservation and letting go. A great gift and bookshelf find for young ones!

My 7-year old loves this book and has been enchanted with the story since age 5. As a nature-loving kid, he loves that story of the child exploring a pond with his grandmother and capturing frogs. The relationship between the grandmother and grandchild characters is very special. The poignancy of the the storytelling actually brought tears to my husband’s eyes when he read it aloud the first time. A great gift for kids — and a gift for adults (parents, educators, grandparents alike) who love reading aloud with children.

Croaky The Frog is a delightful book that will warm the hearts of both children and adults alike. It captures the dedication and enthusiasm of a spunky grandparent as she shares her love of the outdoors with her beloved grandchild. The pair have had many adventures together and the author builds anticipation that there will be more to come soon with a special nighttime experience.

Themes of trust, empathy and acceptance permeate the book. The story is also a gentle reminder for adults to allow children to work through emotions and difficulties in a supportive environment. In the end, the grandchild has time and space to contemplate a found frog, make the hard decision to let it go, and doing so with joy for both the frog and in the agency of making her own choice.
