Story has always been important to me.

As a child and teenager, I was the straggler at the dinner table listening to the adults share stories, especially during visits with relatives who lived far away. Then as a clinical social worker for families with young children, I honed my listening skills, encouraging the sharing of stories for healing.

As a parent, I prioritized listening again. I became a keen observer and a delighted participant in the adventures of my two children. When they were between four and ten years old, a favorite activity occurred with their grandmother at her home; frog hunting.

One story stayed with me for more than thirty years. It simply needed telling. Perhaps it is why I became a writer.
